Our first official stop - The Ridge Cafe, North San Juan, for a cold smoothie.
Inside the cafe - very colorful!
Took a side road to North Bloomfield and the Malakoff Diggins State Historical Park. The quince and forsythia were in bloom everywhere we went.
Historic North Bloomfield.
The Malakoff Diggings. The placer miners really washed this place away.
The North Bloomfield Road bridge over the North Yuba River.
We stayed at the Piety Hill Cottages in Nevada City both on the way down and the way back up. Very cute. Little motor cottages from 1933.
Fiddletown had the best junk piles of anywhere we went.
The fiddle in Fiddletown.
Irises at Volcano.
Waiting for friends in Angels Camp, here's Guy checking his email while a Calaveras County frog looks on. (You know - Mark Twain's famous jumping frog of Calaveras County!)
We rode with some friends of Bonnie's and their menfolk. Sarah and her dad.
